Yesterday was a slow Christmas, and it was perfect. Ruby made the most amazing lemon rolls. Geronimo received his first set of cleaning tools that quickly turned into weapons. We ended the day putting away the Christmas tree and watching the grinch!

My garage was cold today, like 30 degrees. But I chose to do the workout even though it was uncomfortable.
In order for your pitcher to get better, they need to get uncomfortable. I do not mean she needs to be in pain. Actually, pain is almost always BAD!! To make progress, she must do things that are not in her comfort zone. For example: I really dislike doing thrusters and burpees, but I also know they are good for me, and I want to build that part of my physique and engine. So a little discomfort and a lot of benefits! For your pitcher to see progress and improve, she needs to do something different than what she is doing, especially if she is staying the same or worse, losing velocity or power. When we challenge ourselves physically or mentally, we grow in every aspect: physically, mentally, and emotionally, which will translate to game situations. There will be a time when your pitcher is down in the count, bases loaded, no outs, and all the pressure on her shoulders. How she develops her ability to confront difficult challenges and face discomfort in a controlled environment, like lifting or conditioning, will allow her to rise to the occasion! So when she shys away from things that are hard, encourage her, applaud her efforts and commitment, and help her find new challenges to conquer! Find a coach that will help her with this. There are many, many coaches out there, find one that gives her opportunities to succeed and challenges to help her grow.

My dad sent me this photo today! The most memorable times of my childhood and young adulthood were when I was playing softball. My dad was always there to hit me ground balls, throw me bp or catch for me. Thanks dad!

It wasn't a PR but it was the beginning of an awesome running journey. We missed the rest of flyers. It was definitely a great experience, now some rest and then back at it for track with the flyers! Book the lesson!!! If you are new to pitching, I would highly encourage you to find an instructor who can help you. I work with a lot of very dedicated and talented kids who are working to correct issues in their pitching mechanics that were taught to them by well-meaning teachers. It is not always better to find the "beginners" instructors. Finding an experienced instructor can be an investment both in time and money! It is a great investment in your child's pitching future when you get with the right person who helps establish good habits. Otherwise, you may spend twice as long and three times as much money correcting habits that are ingrained.

My little Boo Bear had her FIRST wrestling meet! She did amazing even though she didn't win, it was a good experience! I am so proud of her. All of the kids were great sports and encouraging each other. I may have been a red flag mom yelling from the stands, I'm sorry but is there anything more awesome than a wrestling match where the whole gym is watching and cheering? Go Ruby!!!

Noko with 1st place in her age group with a time of 5:03 for a 1k and Titus in 4th in his age group with a 3k of 11:55. Both kids pr'd and both kids had a blast at the AAU NC regionals. Next week we have usatf in kernersville then off to Knoxville for AAU nationals for Titus and Noko.

Player highlight! Meet Red. This kid is always working. She is one of the most dedicated 10 year olds I have worked with. Her and her mom send me videos of her doing drills over and over again! We tried to pull off a family costume, but the scarecrow changed his mind and wanted to be the grim reaper at the last second! We had two cowardly lions, but one’s costume was too "itchy" so she became a unicorn! As always, Marc was a really good sport. Happy Halloween!

The magic is not in the highlight reel. It is in the daily grind. I could sell you some balls or tools and say this will be the key to your success. There is no ONE key to success as an athlete. The secret is consistency over time. It is working out when you don't want to; when you had a bad day, when you are tired, when your boyfriend breaks up with you, or you get a bad grade, when it is raining, or too hot, or too cold outside. Each time you choose to do something that is hard or outside of your comfort zone, you are making a new pathway in your mind/body that will unlock a new level in your abilities. At least five days of the week I train. Usually, it is at an intensity of 5, today was more like a 3 and the squats, not pictured, were a 6-7. I really love the says where I train at a 8-10, but that isn't sustainable on a daily basis. So I reserve that for one day a week, maybe two. I never want to stop squatting, running, jumping, sprinting, pitching, hitting, playing. Why do we grow up and stop playing? I am on a mission to keep doing what I have always done. I have talked to other people my age, and a little younger, and they have said things like "my best days are behind me" or "you are wasting your time". It is never a waste of time to invest in your vessel and yourself. Find people who encourage and uplift you, and the ones who tell you you need to push harder in order to become your best self.

To my softball girlies, keep grinding. Do it when no one is watching. The training is not glamorous. Most of the time, no one cares or notices.... except you. Put it the effort all the time, even when no one cares or notices. A lot of the work that I did to succeed and improve was ALONE, pitching a rubber ball to a wall with blue painters tape on it, or hitting buckets of balls off a tee, liting at 5 am, running on the weekend and after practice. If you want it, you should work for it.

We were there supporting a Bill that would protect women's right to select the person that would care for them during their pregnancy. I am not going to debate that now. After everyone spoke and gave their testimony in support of the Bill we gathered around the rotunda and a man with a guitar started playing a song I hadn't heard. At first, it felt like it may be a cheesy sing along, I tend to be reserved in these situations and try not to show emotion to strangers. But as he continued singing he nodded to the woman next to me, and the whole rotunda boomed with the echo of her voice. The intensity and beauty in which the words left her body moved me to tears, and it felt like the song was being sung for me. Everyone joined in singing and you could feel the presence of something greater!

You see, this was the hardest time in my life, I was suffering a great loss of self, of my reality, and my past, and it was next to impossible to gather myself to leave my house and put a smile on my face. That moment at the Capitol will be forever etched in my mind and heart. As the song and scripture goes, "May His favor be upon you
And a thousand generations
And your family and your children
And their children and their children

May His presence go before you
And behind you, and beside you
All around you, and within you
He is with you, he is with you

In the morning, in the evening
In your coming, and your going
In your weeping, and rejoicing
He is for you, he is for you!

The reason this broke me wide open was because with all the difficulties I was enduring I thought HE had abandoned me, and I was all alone in my misery. But, I was reminded that HE is for me, and HE is for all of us. It is not an exclusive club to love God, it is a club for all of us. God's love extends to everyone all the time. So, while my heart is the heaviest it has been with ALL the tragic things that are occurring in our world, I am still reminded and moved by the lyrics of this song and the belief that God is with me all the time even in our weakest and most challenging moments.

First xc meet of 2025! All the flyers ran so well. It was a lot of fun to watch the kids run and make new friends and see some old friends as well. Titus came away with 2nd place for his age group and Noko amazed me! Right from the start she fell and got back up and kept going! 2k is a long way for those little legs! Great job flyers!

When I was in college, I took yoga one semester. The class was three times a week, and even when I didn't want to go, I had to because attendance was my entire grade. I ended up loving the class. That year, I pitched the best that I ever pitched. Yoga helped me to quite my brain when I most needed to and helped me to focus. It also helped me to free up space in my body that I clearly needed. If you are a pitcher or parents of a pitcher, get into yoga! It is something families can do together, and as parents who sit on the bleachers, in the car, at the games, our posture and health suffers and we need to care for ourselves too! After filming this and watching it over, I realized I really need to do this at least three times a week.

Big day for Titus. He ran the 1500 at USATF Nationals in Savannah, GA, with the Fayetteville Flyers! He ran a great race and made some memories. Titus ran the 1500 in 5:46. Getting better every day !!

So excited for Titus to run at Nationals next week! I couldn't be more proud of his effort and commitment. He has been working so hard and has shaved thirty seconds off his 1500 time since his first race this season! We can't wait to cheer on all the teammates from Fayetteville Flyers in GA!!! Don't skip mobility... I threw a lot of pitches in a short amount of time on Tuesday, so Wednesday was for mobility and recovery. When I was in my prime, I could do that forever, and ever, now it's a different story, and now I know how to take care of myself.

1. Start warm, I was already warm. I had done a workout prior to this.

Don't skip mobility... I threw a lot of pitches in a short amount of time on Tuesday, so Wednesday was for mobility and recovery. When I was in my prime, I could do that forever, and ever, now it's a different story, and now I know how to take care of myself.
